Margaret for Alaska is currently seeking detail oriented and highly motivated organizers to join our team through the 2016 General Election. Field Organizers are responsible for building a political network and executing our statewide strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing a volunteer base in target districts throughout Alaska.
  • Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers and activists to participate in grassroots activities such as door-to-door, phone banking and early voting to persuade and turn out voters.
  • Use voter database and online organizing tools to track progress and manage volunteer activity.
  • Conduct volunteer trainings and develop and manage a core team of volunteers.
  • Coordinating with allied coalitions and the state field staff.
  • Meet all goals and deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ideally have at least one election cycle of organizing experience, or other intensive interpersonal experience in a group dynamic.
  • Excellent personal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience using voter databases (VAN, PDI, etc.) a plus.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Alaska.
  • Ability to work quickly and cooperatively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Act with high integrity and character.
  • Self-motivated and willing to work long hours (including nights and weekends)
  • Passionate and interested in social and fiscal policy, human rights, and community activism.

COMPENSATION:

Salary for this position is commensurate with the successful candidate’s relevant professional experience. Housing provided.
